First Aid Kit for Islands

Just like any other place, when you are on an island you are at risk of getting sick or injured. However, unlike other places you can’t hop in your car to drive to the doctor’s office to get medical attention. Therefore it is important that you have a variety of supplies on hand in the event that you or a loved one gets sick or injured. As always if the injury is serious seek medical assistance as soon as possible. The following products are intended for minor injuries/illnesses or as a means of controlling the symptoms until medical intervention can be obtained. The following is a list of products that I keep on hand in a safe, dry place that I can pull out in the event of an emergency. Most of these products come in a standard first aid kit that you can purchase at a drug store. I would recommend having at least one member of your family receive at least basic first aid training. Having someone trained will allow you to make the most of these materials.
