Beautiful Bora Bora

Bora Bora probably the quintessential tropical islands. Its name has become the archetype for paradise on Earth. Bora Bora is located in
the society islands of French Polynesia 230 km (140 miles) northwest of Papeete. In the center of the island are the remnants of an extinct volcano rising to two peaks, Mount Pahia and Mount Otemanu.
As of 2002, the population of Bora Bora was about 7,250 people. The major settlement, Vaitape is on the western side of the island, opposite the main channel into the lagoon. Bora Bora is mainly dependent on tourism with several high end resorts being built both on the island and on the s
maller private islands surrounding the island. Bora Bora is famous for its over the water bungalows built on stilts that offer stunning views of the lagoon and extinct island volcano.
It’s not a quick trip to Bora Bora but there are six flights every day from Tahiti (among other islands) and it costs about $149 making the island relatively accessible. French and Tahitian are the official and most widely spoken languages on the island, however you will find many people speak English. While in Bora Bora take advantage of its remarkable snorkeling and diving there are many species of sharks and rays to be seen.
