Leonardo DiCaprio’s Private Island
By Islomaniac | August 22, 2007
Screen legend in the making Leonardo DiCaprio is also a private island enthusiast. The star of such films as “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” “Titanic,” “the Beach” and my personal favorite “Blood Diamond” is also the proud owner of Blackadore Caye in Belize. The environmentally conscious star recently purchased the 104 acre island which lies just a 25 minute boat ride from the Belize Barrier Reef which is a world heritage site. There are reports that he is planning on building an eco-friendly resort on the island which could cost upwards of several million dollars to build. The eco-friendly hideaway will include the use of renewable energy sources and the focus will be on respecting the islands wildlife and tropical surroundings.
