9,000,000 Euros can buy you a small volcanic islands called Montana Clara in the Canary Islands. You can’t build on the island but the island does come with a 24 square meter hut. The reason the island cannot be further developed is the island is part of the Chinijo archipelago nature reserve. 9,000,000 Euros may seem like a lot for an island that can’t be developed but availability of an island for sale in the Canary Islands is a rare occurrence. Environmental groups have been calling on the Spanish government to expropriate the island, and some commenter’s have suggested that the island has been put up for sale in order to force the government’s hand. This fact may put off many buyers although the real estate agent for the island says there is already interested in the island. Therefore if you are interested in owning an island in a unique and special part of the world I would recommend acting quickly.
