Outdoor Showers on Islands
Many cottage and island owners build outdoor showers to rinse off after a dip in the lake or ocean. Although not a private island “necessity” its a great way to rinse of the salt and sand before going into your home. Outdoor showers are also a great way to enjoy the peace and serenity of your private island. You can build an outdoor shower yourself or you can purchase one via a home supply store. All you need to set one up on your island is a little screening for privacy, access to a hot water line (unless cold showers are your thing), good drainage, and perhaps a place to hang a towel. outdoor showers range from the basic to the extravagant ranging in price from a $200 to over 3,100 from a stainless steel and teak waterfall outdoor shower. Before purchasing or building an outdoor shower know what you want to use it for. If you just need something to “hose off the kids with” than I would recommend a basic system. However, if you are planning to have romantic showers under the stars you may want to consider a more elegant model…and perhaps some screening.
