Very Expensive Islands Part II

By Islomaniac | September 30, 2007

Yesterday I wrote about a couple of really expensive islands for sale, so today I thought I would continue the trend by posting a couple of more. Thanks again to Private Islands Online who have been kind enough to share these properties with me, and don’t forget- for every really expensive island for sale there are literally dozens of more affordable islands.

Charles Island-$35,000,000

Charles IslandCharles IslandLocated in the Bahamas, Charles Island is the gateway to North Eleuthera. Given its close location to the harbor, the lucky island owner will have access to utilities and support facilities, which is a major bonus to any prospective island owner. The island is currently serviced by electrical lines, government water and telephone lines. In addition, labor, hardware stores, marinas and other conveniences are just minutes away. The island is ideal for development as ferry services and three airports are all stationed on the nearby island of Eluthera. I will admint that this is not the most beautiful island I have ever seen. Nonetheless, it is extremely close to other high developments which means that it is ideal for resort development. Not only could visitors get the private island experience, but the island is also easily accessible and close to countless amenities. Therefore the resort would have the prestige of being on a private island but wouldn’t be subject to the high transportation and import costs that are synonymous with more isolated private island resorts. Cerralvo Island-$35,000,000

Cerralvo islandOne of the few islands available for sale in Mexico, this island is an incredibly large 35,000,000 acres in size. Located in the Sea of Cortez, the island is just 60 miles east of the city of La Paz. The landscape of the island features a mountainous ridge line with peaks up to 2100ft, high bluffs and cliffs, gentle streams, and beautiful sandy beaches. The climate around the island is consistently warm and dry, making it ideal for resort development. Ideally suited as an eco resort the island could potentially attract small groups of nature loving tourists. Islands like Cerralvo rarely come on the market, its climate, location and size make it a highly prized and coveted island, and I am certain you will be hearing more about this island in the future.
