Canada to Protect More Private Islands

By Islomaniac | October 26, 2007

Canada IslandsCanada a country with an immense number of islands and although not tropical they are one of the countries most treasured national resources. Recently the Minister of the Environment announced that they will be moving to protect more islands in the province of British Columbia. The Scott Islands are receiving millions of dollars to protect the natural heritage and marine resrouces of the area. Environment Canada is working with the Government of British Columbia in order to protect the islands which are famous for their large seabird populations.

Personally I think its great to see Canada taking steps to protect more of their islands. This is definitely not an isolated trend, countries and regions all over the world are taking steps to protect their islands and the unique ecosystems to which they belong.
