Caribbean Island in Nova Scotia

By Islomaniac | December 30, 2007

Mouton IslandWhen I came across Mounton Island on Private Islands Online I was amazed at how much it looked like a hybrid between a Canadian and a Caribbean private island. Mounton Island which is 3km off the coast of Nova Scotia is a typical Canadian Island. It is large (988 acres) and forested.

However, the island has many Caribbean features. The island has gorgeous white sand beaches and the climate is much milder than other Canadian regions as it is moderated by the Gulf Stream. This means temperatures from May to October range from 18 to 30 degrees which is beautiful for the North Atlantic.

In addition to having a great location, size and climate the island is also has two small freshwater lakes that supply amply drinking water to its residents. In addition the island is the largest private island on the east coast of the American Mouton IslandContinent. Finally the island is just 15 minutes from the town of Liverpool, which offers everything from hospitals, to a theater to a hardware store.

The island is on the market for 3.5 million. I expect this island will sell quickly as it has so much going for it. After all, it’s in Canada, it has white sand beaches, a moderate temperature, it’s massive and it’s close to developed areas, which ensures easy access to safety and supplies.
