Roosevelt Island: Part of American History

Roosevelt IslandFor 1.8 million dollars you could own not only a private island but a piece of American history and a property owned by the family of one of our most famous American Presidents.

Roosevelt Island, located in Montana is a 61 acre island located on the Missouri river.  The island illustrious history began on June 14, 1805 when famous explorers Lewis and Clark passed the islands shores while on their intrepid voyage.

The island was first purchased by Fredrick Roosevelt (the great-great grandfather of President Theodore Roosevelt) on October 5th 1876, for just $200.  Fredrick lived on the island for 6 years before moving to Fort Benton Montana where he served as mayor.

There is no word on whether Teddy actually visited the island.  In any case this is a rare chance to own an island with an interesting history and a famous name.  In addition it is currently the only island available for sale in Montana so it’s a chance to own a rare property in this part of the world

  1. According to Genealogy.com I see no great great grandfather named Frederick for Teddy. Also the years don’t seem correct if Teddy was born in 1858. I think Private Islands Online needs to check their history if their are using such info to sell that island.
