New Zealand is an interesting place for private islands as it has some of the most interesting laws in place when it comes to buying and selling these properties. The New Zealand government requires that when an island is put up for sale it must first be offered to New Zealanders. After this time period the island owners are free to take offers from other interested parties.
Navigating the rules and regulations for buying an island in New Zealand is usually worth the hassle as the country is home to some of the most beautiful islands in the world. A new island that recently appeared for sale of the global stage is Puangiani Island.
Set in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds, the 150 acres Island offers a rare opportunity to own a fully-private island in New Zealand. The island comes with a small home that is nestled into the hillside and overlooks the other islands in the Rangitoto Group.
The islands is available for sale through Private Islands Online. I am not sure if the island is available to international buyers but if you were interested I would recommend inquiring about the property. For more information on buying islands in New Zealand click here.
