Islands of the Future

Artificial islands are becoming more and more common, as people endevour to adopt the exclusive private island lifestyle. Today, island projects such as “The Palm” and “The World” both in Dubai are getting a lot of attention for their unique
designs. In the future however, it may not be the artificial islands themselves that are getting the attention, but what is built upon them. Here is a look as some skyscrapers that may be built soon on islands and artificial islands around the world.
Crystal Island, Moscow
Crystal Island, which has been granted preliminary planning for construction is just 4.5 miles from the Kremlin. Crystal Island is a self-contained city that will soar 1,500ft and house 30,000 residents in 900 apartments. In addition the building will feature 3,000 hotel rooms, a cinema, museum, sports complex, shopping mall and international school for 500 students.
Bionic Tower, China
The Bionic Tower is a proposed vertical city that would stand 3,950ft tall (300 stories) and be constructed on 0.4 square mile artificial island connected to the mainland. The tower would house up to 100,000 people and would cost a soaring $15 billion to construct.
