The Island Archetype

By Islomaniac | January 28, 2008

When one thinks of a private island there is usually a standard image that comes to mind. Given the way private islands are typically portrayed in the media the private island that comes to mind is typically tropical, fringed by white sand beaches, surrounded by turquoise waters and perhaps adorned by a small tropical hut. Most would think that this image exists only in the minds eye, in fact there are many islands currently for sale that fir this island profile. Here are a few properties currently for sale that fit what I like to call the “island archetype”

Bottle CayBottle Cay, Bahamas
$3,000,000

Bottle Cay looks like paradise! Located near Cape Eleuthera this island features beautiful white sand beaches and plenty of palm trees for shade. The added advantage of this island is it only looks remote. This island is actually accessible to the nearby development of Powell Point ensuring the essentials are provided, and its residents do not have to survive on coconut milk.

Anonyme Island, SeychellesAnonyme Island

African islands are as rare as they are beautiful and Anonyme island is no exception. This island has been designed for the island owner who dreams of opening a small resort and sharing their property with others who dream of the island life style. Starting a private island resort is an excellent way to work and play in a private island paradise. However, this island may soon be off the market as it is currently under contract.

An island that lives up to its name, Utopia island is a virtual Garden of Eden, from its lush palms, to its white sand beach to the colorful coral that surrounds the island. Waiting for its Robertson Crusoe, this island, with a little hard work could be a true utopia.
