In the past I have written extensively about affordable islands and I will continue to do so in the future. However, sometimes it’s fun to write about expensive, exclusive and exotic islands destined to only be enjoyed by fortune 500 execs, celebrities and very brave (and dumb) trespassers.
Here are some of my favorite private islands from around the world.
Great Hans and Little Hans Lollik,
US Virgin Islands
$45,000,000
Sure they cost $45 million, but you get two of them! The Lollik islands, dubbed by some as the crown jewels of the Virgin Islands are blessed with white sand beaches and warm Caribbean breezes. In addition the island features palm forests, turquoise waters, stunning cliffs, and spectacular views. The island is currently undeveloped but is prime property for development, and if it is not scooped up by a wealthy individual looking for a private retreat, it will likely be developed into a luxury private island resort. If the later happens there is still a chance you can visit the Lollik Islands, even if you don’t have $45 million.

Katafanga Island
Fiji
€25,000,000
Making its first official appearance on the international private islands stage, this islands striking beauty makes it worth every Euro. Katafanga is a 225 acre island that is surrounded by a 5,000 acre lagoon resulting in an island that is strikingly beautiful. The island is destined to be a luxury resort. At 80% complete the resort already has a completed dining pavilion and spa as well as 30 luxury villas. In addition this island comes complete with a 3,400 foot runway and a free hold title, a rare combination in Fiji. In short islands this beautiful rarely come on the market and typically do not last very long.

Leaf Cay
Bahamas
12,000,000.
Leaf Cay is what teens today would call “pimped out.” This 25 acre island located in the Exumas is a rare find. The island is home to 19 buildings, a 1,500’ airstrip, and a protected marina. The island has the advantage of getting its electrical supply from the Bahamas government, but if that should fail the island has six back up generators. To round out this highly developed island is four underground cisterns, fuel storage, fresh water wells and a freezer building (yes building). In short this island is either ready for an apocalypse or someone who plans on spending a lot of time on their island (I’m hoping for the later). I wouldn’t be surprised if this island sold quite soon, no doubt the infrastructure on the island is worth $20 million alone. For more information on Leaf Cay visit Private Islands Online.
This is just tip of the ultra expensive island iceberg if you have lots of money to spend there is no shortage of islands out there for you to purchase.
