Although tropical islands get most of the attention, my favorite type of island is the rugged, forested islands of North America. I am not sure why I like them more than there tropical counterparts, perhaps its because they remind me of my own island, or perhaps its because the woodsy islands of North America are a stark contrast of our sprawling urban cities. For whatever reason, North America has some beautiful private islands for sale. Here are some of my favorites.
Vargas Island, British Columbia
Vargas Island which was just put on the market for $975,000. This remote island is located at the entrance of the famous Clayoquot Sound in British Columbia. The forested 45 acre island is accessible only by boat and features a 4,000 square foot home. The island is just a few miles from Tofino, which is one of the last great temperate rain forests in North America. It is the location and scenery that makes this island a gem
