Deterring, Not Detection is Key to Island Safety
By Islomaniac | February 18, 2008
In terms of island security an owner has two options, they can ensure there is nothing on their island that they wouldn’t mind losing or being stolen, or they can invest in a security system.
Although not all island owners will need to invest in a security system, if you feel you need one it is important to do proper research to ensure that you are getting a system that is well suited for your island environment.
Traditionally island owners invest in loud sirens and sturdy doors and locks. These two measures are essential given that response to burglary may be slow depending on how isolated is. In short given an island isolation, the key to island security is deterring rather than detection.
A great website for more information on home security systems is Home Security Alarms.com. This website provides a lot of information on what the different types of security systems are and has a special section for cottage owners and those living in remote regions.
