Zoran Island
By Islomaniac | March 5, 2008
The island world has been abuzz lately with talk of a plan to build a new artificial island off the coast of Phuket, Thailand. Although the project is still in the early planning stages there is, according to the projects developer a plan to build marina for luxury mega yachts of the eastern coast of Phuket.
Royal Phuket Marina (RPM), recently announced plans to build a 6.6 billion baht (I’m not sure what that is in American dollars) marina, luxury hotel and villa complex on reclaimed land about 3km off the coast of Phuket. The project still needs the go ahead from local authorities, and reportedly there has been some resistance. The project was apparently inspired by a visit from Bill Gates and the design elements will be similar to that of the artificial island projects in Dubai.
It will be interesting to see if the project gets approval. If I have any readers in Phuket who would like to comment on this project I would love to hear your thoughts.
