Private Islands aren’t just for relaxation. They can also be the ideal spot for the “working vacation.” Case and point is Richard Branson who recently invited some of the world most influential people to Necker Island for a discussion on whether or not the world could ever work together to tackle climate change and emissions of greenhouse gases.
High-powered visitors included Larry Page of Google, Jimmy Wales of Wikipedia, and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Mr. Branson hopes the Caribbean getaway weekend will be the first of many, an intimate, enviro-version of the annual media gathering in Sun Valley, Idaho, sponsored by Paul Allen & Company. Talk ranged from the practicality of electric-powered cars to how much money would have to be invested in biofuels to reduce the price of crude to $35 a barrel.
Want to get in on the Necker Island action? The island is available for rent for $322,000/wk (celebrities, CEO’s and politicians not included). To read about Branson’s private summit click here, to learn more about Necker Island click here.
