Pre-Fab Homes and Private Islands
By Islomaniac | April 23, 2008
In all my years reading articles about private islands and private island living I can’t remember an article about pre-fab homes and private islands. Recently, however, The National Post did published an article on pre-fab homes and private islands. The article features a number of companies that construct pre-fab homes.
One of the featured products is t
he Pavilion House modular home from Toronto’s Mafco. The homes which have been developed for Ontario’s many lakeshore properties, are ideally suited for private island living. The article notes that today pre-fab homes are high in style while retaining a soft in ecological foot print. The Pavilion House featured in the article is 256 square feet in side and are build on concrete piers, which means they don’t disturb the floor of your island and can withstand flooding, something that may be of a concern in some areas of the world.
The article also features many other pre-fab companies, many of which build products ideal for private island living. Also on the list include Habitats Legers which are 350 square feet in size, are highly portable, and blend discretely into their surroundings. In short this article is one of the most comprehensive news articles I have ever seen on pre-fab homes. It highlights a wide spectrum of pre-fab structures that are currently on the market and outlines the costs and benefits of these products. If you are currently in the market for a pre-fab home I would really recommend this article.
