A New Island Opera House for Dubai

It’s a new week, so we know what that means, a new island project for Dubai. I guess I can’t really complain, there developments provide an endless source of content for my blog!
According to reports, Dubai is planning on building an ultra modern opera house on a man-made island off the coast of Dubai. So in case your wondering where all the money you spent on gas this week is going…well now you know! The Dubai Opera House, will feature a “distinctive series of softly undulating roofs” slightly similar to that of the sydney opera house. More than just a venue for performances, the building will also house an art gallery and an academy for the arts. When finished the complex is expected to be about 300,000 square meters in size. Although prepetory work on the building has been started, there is no word on when it is expected that the project will be completed.
The city is also preparing a series of new 600 meter towers, which for those of you who are mathematically challenged is about thirty percent taller than the Empire State Building.
