Not all islands have sandy beaches and swaying palm trees, but that doesn’t mean they are without value. Someone certainly saw the value in this island, and chose to build their island home on it. A rocky island in the state of Rhode Island, Clingstone Mansion is without a doubt one of the most unique mansions anywhere.
The 103-year-old mansion was built in 1905 at a cost of $36,982.99. Today, the mansion which has 360-degree views of the bay offers a combination of grandiose opulence and rough beach house charm. The mansion itself is massive containing 23 room, including 10 bedrooms spread out over three floors.
In 1961, a man named Henry Wood paid $3,600 for the mansion after it had fallen into a state of disrepair. With the help of family and friends, he’s completely restored the house. The island is remains a private residence and who knows if this incredible property will ever come on the market.
