Atlantis Dubai Officially Opens
After a fire and development delays the new Atlantis Dubai on Palm Jumeirah Island officially opened its doors. The Atlantis is the first resort to open its doors on the impressive man-made island. The new resort which has 1,539 rooms cost $1.5 billion dollars to build.
Created by Kerzner International Holdings and Nahkeel, Atlantis has been called the first fully integrated entertainment resort in the world. In addition to its impressive architecture the resort has an enormous, open-air tank with 65,000 fish, stingrays and other sea creatures and a dolphinarium with more than two dozen bottlenose dolphins flown in from the Solomon Islands.
The top floor of the Atlantis is geared towards the very rich. A three-bedroom, three-bathroom suite complete with a gold-leaf, 18-seat dining table is available for $25,000 a night.
While the Atlantis is the only resort on the island right now it will soon be joined by a new Trump Hotel and the world famous QE2 ocean liner will soon become a hotel docked on the shores of the palm shaped island.
