Rainwater Harvesting
Imagine being stuck on a dessert island with no fresh water to drink. Although this is an uncommon scenario in the twenty-first century it is important to consider how you will meet your most basic of needs if and when you move to a private island.
One excellent way to ensure a steady supply of water to your island is through a rainwater harvesting system. The traditional rainwater collection system features drains, screens, gutters and pumps. Overall, they are systems that are complicated and expensive.
A new product called the Rainwater Hog is hoping to change all this and make rainwater capture and storage easier for island owners. The Rainwater Hog is a modular device that allows island owners to place them anywhere on there property, making the ‘Hog’ more convenient. In addition, since this device is highly portable it means that owners do not need to invest in pumping systems which can be energy intensive.

These are some of the best tanks around, we in the UK usually opt for underground tanks, as land is very highly priced, mainly due to the lack of it!!! We are seeing more and more above ground tanks coming out and often these are not attractive. Whereas these tanks are excellent.
Rainwater harvesting makes perfect sense and is a must where ever there is water stress and/or a desire to help wih environmental matters.
I run a business that sells water filtration as it relates to rainwater harvesting. For anybody who’s interested, we’re seeing many people turn to UV disinfection systems to make their rainwater drinkable. Often, for rooftop collected water, there is bacterial contamination from bird droppings. UV does a great job killing these bacteria.
