Abu Dhabi Island to get the Louvre
Saadiyat Island or the “Island Of Happiness”, is a US$27-billion luxury island project located in Abu Dhabi. The resort island will included marinas, shops and art centres, including the world’s largest Guggenheim, designed by celebrated architect Frank Gehry.
In addition the island will feature a branch of France’s Louvre museum. There was some speculation that aspects of the project would be cancelled due to the tightening credit conditions. However, officials recently announced that despite some changes it will still bring the Guggenheim and Louvre museums to the island.
