Plans Unveiled for Leonardo DiCaprio’s Private Island
I first wrote about Leonardo DiCaprio’s plans to build an eco-resort on his Private Belizian Island more than a year ago (READ: Leonardo Dicaprio Going Green on Private Island). When writing this article I learned that DiCaprio had teamed up with the owners of the Fours Seasons to develop an eco-friendly resort which was scheduled to begin construction in 2008. Now with 2008 coming to a close it appears that construction is about to be
gin on this exciting new development.
The journey to this point began in 2004 when DiCaprio discovered the island on a trip to Belize with girlfriend Gisele Bundchen. DiCaprio purchased the island for 1.75 million in 2005 in partnership with Jeff Gram owner of the exclusive Cayo Espanto Resort.
Together the two began working with Four Seasons Group to develop what will soon become the exclusive and environmentally friendly Four Seasons Blackadore Caye. DiCaprio along with the Four Seasons plan to turn the 104 acre tropical island situated off the coast of Belize into a five-star resort.
The new 80 room luxury hotel will feature both condominium units as well residential beach front villas. Ammenties at the five star resort will include a spa, bars, restaurants and swimming pools.
Of course what will make this resort unique is the eco friendly way in which the resort will be developed. Efforts are being made to ensure that the buildings are integrated into the local landscape to avoid disruption of the local flora and fauna. Along with hybrid, wind and bio-diesel power systems, several arrays of solar panels will be installed to provide power to the resort.
As I previously mentioned construction is scheduled to begin sometime this year with the development being spearheaded by Las Vegas entrepreneur and hotelier Andrew Sasson of the Light Group, which is the group behind the MGM Grand, The Bellagio among others. I have also learned that exclusive private estastes may be developed on the island for A-list celebrities such as Robert DiNiro and Tiger Woods, of course this is just a rumor, for more info click here.
To see an ajnimation of what the islands development will look like visit Blackadore Caye Naturally I will keep you all posted on what is happening with the development over the coming months. It is always exciting when an island is developed with the environment kept at the forefront.

ha ha ha!!! so lame now you have to copy me word for word Alexis, and the spelling mistakes hilarious. Why dont you try a bit harder? Oh thats right I forgot you are just a fake islomaniac
nice island caprio…
Leonardo Di Caprio should learn more about the businessmen he teams up with. The businessmen that provide funds to celebrity charities, usually have a dark side, such as hiring illegal immigrants to exploit them as much as possible and verbally abuse other powerless employees. If Di Caprio knew what I know about Mr. Gram, he would have never teamed up with him. Just ask his ex wife!
So great to have Mr. DiCaprio in the neighborhood!! We also own a private island in Belize, just down the “road” from him and are developing eco-friendly. It’s great to have them.
Cheers,
Karrie Bennett
