Island Caretakers

On a weekly basis I recieve e-mails from readers looking for jobs on islands, particularly island caretaker positions. I will be honest in saying that these are positions that are hard to come by. Most island owners in highly populated areas often just have an offsite caretaker check on the island once and while and conduct any basic maintenance required. On the flip side many owners of islands in remote locations simply close up their island and take their chances.

One of the things that many caretakers do not realize is that being an island caretaker is a lot of work and is extremely lonely. That being said if you are looking for a caretaker position I would suggest checking out the Caretaker Gazette. Although not an island website, from time to time island caretaker positions do become available on this site.

Caretaker/handyman available. I can do most of general jobs - fix, build, install, customize, repair, reclaim, restore, renovate, create, design and demolish your House, Home, Kitchen, bath, bedroom, and garden. 34 years old single male, very healthy, strong, excellent English. handyman, builder (can handle with any tool), computer technician, gardener, barman, security guard,etc - all in one person. 22 yeas old white guy absolutely healthy, without bad habits,very good personality, excellent knowledge of English, with good past and excellent future searches for work on island.

I am hoping that this is for real….

I am 50 years young ….lots of experience in life……handy with my hands …..sick of the rat race.

Speak fluent english , french and greek would take this job in a heartbeat .

I am trustworthy ….a man of principles and very serious in everything I do.

Thanks for writing about The Caretaker Gazette. They have the best website I have found for rent-free living. I used to pay $865/month in rent - and now I’m living rent-free as a result of housesitting opportunities from their site.
