In the past islands have been built in rivers for the purpose of cleaning the water. Typically these islands contain a freat deal of vegetation with dense root systems that serve to filter the water has it flows around and under the anchored island. However, if a new project goes forward in China it will revolutionize the way we build artificial island and impact the environment where they are built.
