Cottage in a Day!
Modular housing is where it is at when it comes to building on your private island. Modular structures allow you to quickly and efficiently build a home on your island, while minimizing disruption to the surrounding landscape. Cottage in a Day is one of my favorite modulars. Designed by architect Michael Fitzhugh and constructed near my home hear in Michigan, these modulars combine rustic features with modern ammenities, all while remaining energy efficient.
These cottages can be constructed through the selection and rearranging of 14 modular strucutres. This means you can tailor your modular home to yoru needs, whether it be a weekend cottage or a permanent home. The modulars come in four models which start at just $52,000 and go up to $152,000 for a home that comes “with all the fixins” including energy star appliances and bamboo flooring.

Thanks for writing about Cottage in a Day on your blog. We certainly
appreciate the attention to all of our hard work. In an effort to keep
the record straight, Cottage in a Day is a business that hired architect
Michael Fitzhugh “to draw” a previously determined design, arrived at
through focus groups, design salons, and transportation limitations.
While Michael is a talented young architect, which is why we selected him
to be part of the team, he did not design the Cottage in a Day concept.
Thanks, and please keep watching us.

I have seen these first-hand, and I have to say the potential behind the units is huge. Part of my graduate research focuses on green residential prefab, and this is one of the most comprehensive ideas I’ve seen. A lot of value in this product.
