If you are interested in purchasing a private island but don’t like the idea of being completely cut off from the mainland you may want to consider an island that is connected to the mainland. Although not common there are a number of private islands on the market that are connected to the mainland via a bridge or causeway. One of my favorite “connected islands” is located right here in my home state of Michigan.

Owned by architect Mark Blomquist, Eagle Island is a 6.8 acre private island located on Lake Antoine. Given the islands connection to the mainland it is ideal for any number of development projects. However, Blomquist believes it would make the ideal spot for a series of seasonal cottages. The island is currently on the market for just under $1.4 Million.
