Famous designer and inventor Knut Karlsen recently unveiled an inovative approach to portable power that has obvious benefits to the remote island owner.

The inovation is a prototype battery capable of charging itself when exposed to sunshine.  These SunCat C-Cells are wrapped in flexible photovoltaic panels and will slowly recharge when left to bask in the sun.

What makes this ideal for island owners is it removes the need for accessories needed to keep batteries charged. Although the batteries are still in the development phase it may not be long before island owners everywhere have a set of batteries sitting beside them while they lounge in there deck chairs.
