Floating Cities of the Future Part II

Living Universe

The future is exciting when it comes to island living, with designers and architects around the world re-shapping what it will mean to be an islomaniac in the future. Part II in this series looks at The Living Universe Foundation an organization that envisions our migration to island cities as the first step to traveling to the stars.

Although the mandate of the Living Universe Foundation may sound strange at first, their ideas are not without merit. The organization is dedicated to to the long-term colonization of the galaxy. In the future they envision humans tapping the resources of the galaxy from the sun’s energy to the mineral deposits on nearby asteroids.

In the short term, however, they believe that a series of self-sufficient, semi-autonomouse ocean-going cities (see Freedom Ship) are the first step on this eight-step journey to galactic conquest. In other words, sea-faring colonies would form the basis for future space journies with these semi-independent communities used as models for sustainable and self-sufficient living, much like the island owener of today strives to genreate their own electricity and live self-sufficiently.
