Although still in the design stage floating cities, floating societies and floating resorts are becoming more and more common. Perhaps its due to a lack of land, or maybe its just humanities fascinating with the sea, maybe it ’s both.  Either way these ocean cities will surely be a part of our future. 

One of my favorite concepts is the Seastead a self sufficient society designed by an Estonian Architect. Vegetation is grown onsite to provide food for residents and passive solar design principles genrate power. The city also has the capability to sail the ocean. 

The only question remaining is, will this city, or the many others like it ever get built?
