Island Appropriate Architecture
It seems like every day there is a new design for a modular home. However, not all are island appropriate and are better suited for mainland living. Therefore when I come across a modular that I think would fit nicely on an island, I make a point of featuring it.
Made from tubular steel, this home is placed above ground on concrete piers or a wood deck than sheathed in translucent plastic. The home is designed for off the grid living and is therefore coated in photovoltaic film. The modular components are arcs designed to be light weight, thus making transportation easier and cheaper. It is estimated that this modular would cost about $100,000 for an 800 square foot modular. Given that the modular is built off the ground, is easily transportable and off the grid I think this modular would be ideal for island owners in tropical regions.
