Islands that are NOT For Sale
There are literally hundreds of islands for sale around the world at any given time. However, often islands are promoted on disreputable websites as being for sale, when in reality were sold years ago, or in some cases not even on the market at all.
One island blogger recently announced that Toberua Island Resort in Fiji was on the market. It was reported that the majestic island with it’s 15 recently renovated bures was on the market for $4,350,000. However, I have it on good authority that the island was sold two years ago, and isn’t even on the market.
It was also recently widely reported that Skorpios Island, the iconic island formerly owned by shipping magnet Aristotle Onasis and now owned by grand-daughter Athena Onasis was on the market. Many publications announced that the island was on the market for 100 Million Euros and that both Madonna and Bill Gates were interested in the island. Of course these rumors are completely untrue and have prompted Athina to release a statement that she is not putting the island on the market.
These two examples are just a drop in the bucket of islands that are often portrayed as being on the market, when indeed they are not. It underscores the need to stick with companies like Private Islands Inc., who work to maintain the integrity of the island industry.
