Today is a big day for residents of Chicago, Madrid, Rio De Janeiro and Tokyo as the IOC will announce who will be hosting the the 2016 Summer Olympics. My vote is going to Chicago, not just because I am an American but because they are planning on building a man-made island in Lake Michigan for the games. Known now as Northerly Island, the future Olympic Island will be home to the sailing and beach volleyball venues during the olympics and no doubt remain an excellent public space after the Olympics.
