Attention All Pilots: PARADISE IS LESS THAN AN HOUR AWAY… Tropical breezes, palm trees, sugar sand beaches, warm clear waters, friendly folks, fresh sea food, cold beer and of course some of the most beautiful islands in the world. So easy even a Light Sport Aircraft can do it…
The Islands of The Bahamas now welcomes Light-Sport Aircraft (LSA). The Bahamas now accepts the certification of U.S. and Canadian sport pilots (some exceptions apply: including pilots must hold a valid Driver’s Licence as well as at least a 3rd class Medical Certificate – consult the FAA before any take-offs).
A light-sport aircraft, also known as an LSA, is a small aircraft that is simple to fly and which meets certain regulations set by a National aviation authority restricting weight and performance. One of the best and brightest of this new breed of planes is Icon Aircraft’s A5.
ICON Aircraft’s mission is to bring the freedom, fun, and adventure of flying to all who have dreamed of flight. The FAA’s dramatic 2004 regulation changes that created the Light Sport Aircraft category have redefined the possibilities for aviation and allowed ICON to “reinvent flying” by focusing on the consumer experience.
After years of development with some of the world’s best aerospace engineers and industrial designers, ICON Aircraft has released the first of its sport planes, the A5. The A5 delivers an exciting and safe flying experience in a bold design that communicates beauty, performance, and most importantly, fun.
Not a pilot? Don’t have an LSA? Getting to the Bahamas is even more convenient now that Odyssey Aviation has opened a new, full-service, fixed based operator (FBO) facility at the Exuma International Airport (MYEF) in the Bahamas. Odyssey’s new 2500 sq. ft. facility is the first private terminal at Exuma International and offers its own customs and immigration clearance area located within the facility. It features a new spacious pilots’ lounge, flight planning room, refreshment bar, passenger lounge, private fuel farm and two acres of adjoining apron for aircraft parking.
With four private terminals (FBOs) and handling locations at Nassau International Airport (MYNN), Exuma International Airport (MYEF), Governors Harbour Airport (MYEM) and Rock Sound Airport (MYER), Odyssey focuses on creating a seamless experience from a visitor’s arrival to their departure by delivering reliability, consistency and a high level of safety and quality service.
So whether you want to make the flight yourself or let Odyssey take the controls, there’s never been a better time to go to the Bahamas.
