Just off Panama’s Pacific coast, nestled between nationally protected marine areas in the Gulf of Montijo, is tropical Cebaco Island. With its rolling hills, palm-fringed coves, sandy beaches, cascading waterfalls, and dramatic rock formations, this 3706-acre island is a world of its own. Seen from above, the island looks like an emerald set in a sea of sapphire. Facing the open Pacific on the island’s Southwestern side is Cebaco Private Biosphere, a unique real-estate opportunity.
The island rises 349 m above sea level. Large swaths of its terrain are covered in dense rainforest. The northern shore hosts a small fishing community. Over two dozen tranquil bays and beaches lie hidden along the property’s 12,000 m of winding coastline. The hills offer panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and mainland.
A small portion of the property hosts an innovative reforestation project using exclusively native hardwood species. The four bedroom beachhouse on Playa El Cedro has sweeping ocean views along a private beach. Despite the fact that the island is less than 10 km offshore and a short flight from Panama City, the island maintains a feeling of seclusion and privacy.
Humpback and sperm whales migrate through the area and four species of turtles, giant manta rays and dolphins can be spotted just offshore.
