A modern looking luxury hotel made up of spaceship discs that recall Star Trek’s set has started to be built partially underwater in the Maldives.
The Polish developers of the Water Discus Hotel received the green light last week by the National Ministry of Tourism to begin construction off the island of Kuredhivary, where the unique underwater project will be built along the crystal waters and amazing coral reefs.
The two-part structure gives the guests options to see a side of the Maldives that is usually hidden below the expansive waters. Those who strive to see the underwater lifestyle of tropical fish and magnetic coral and others that prefer aerial views of their lush, blue skied surroundings will be pleased in this ambitious new project.
The blue prints are extremely impressive: suspended up to seven meters above water on five pillars, the upper deck will house the hotel restaurant, a spa, a rooftop seawater pool, a tropical garden, as well as a helicopter landing pad.
The lower undewater deck is built up to 30 meters below the surface, it will house 21 soundproof guest rooms and the hotel bar as well as a submarine, air locked diver center that leads divers straight into the ocean.
The developers are also talking of matching this design for a location in Dubai – no information on when the location is set to be opened.
This innovative project will be a destination everyone must see.
